THE ROOTS OF LEARNING: SCHOOLS, LAND
AND FOOD
Prue Leith, Learning through Landscapes, Sue
Clifford & Mary TaskerMarch 23-28,
2002
It is vital that the citizens of the future learn to understand and
cherish their environment, be it urban or rural. An ecological world view needs
to be integrated into the way a school operates, and this requires more than the
occasional lesson in "environmental education". This course provides educationalists with
inspiration and practical ideas about how to carry forward changes to the
curriculum, and provides a forum for discussing the educational significance of
such innovations.

OMEGA Institute for Holistic Studies presents
The Century of the
Environment—Resurgence Comes to America
September 6-9, 2001
Rhinebeck, New York
Humanity is entering the century of the environment. New contracts are
needed between humans, nature, science, and society.
Amory B. Lovins, CEO (Research) Rocky Mountain
Institute, will give a keynote address.
Since 1966, the British magazine Resurgence has been a beacon of
optimistic, yet hard-hitting discussion about challenges facing humanity
and the planet. In its pages, some of the world's leading visionaries have
written eloquently about sustainable development, environmental and
spiritual awareness, deep ecology, and the awesome beauty and endless
mystery of the natural world. This conference brings together some of the
magazine's most celebrated contributors who share with us conversations on
sustainability, and inspire us in stunningly creative ways.
- Topics discussed in keynote speeches and small
groups will include:
-
–The changes we can make that will mitigate
or minimize the human impact on the environment;
–How to develop the conviction that
environmental problems are solvable, and the energy and patience to be part of
the solutions;
–How to assist the world's citizens,
governments, and corporations in thinking long-term about natural resources and
systems;
–How our spiritual, psychological, and
activist natures can nurture and advance each other; and
–How each of us has the power and creativity
to make a difference.

investigation, the desire to understand altered states is universal. Explore
in a thoughtful manner the myriad of experiences that we call altered states
of consciousness. Join us and investigate the space beyond ordinary reality,
