Introduction
"There are many methods of healing. Some alleviate
the symptoms whilst others treat the imbalance at different levels. Yet others
try to reach the root cause. They all have a rightful place in a larger scheme
of healing and should complement each other. No one method has a monopoly of
truth, and, ideally, doctors, practitioners, therapists and other healers work
together for the benefit of the one seeking help.

This month we
explore healing at the level of the soul - an ancient science
that is being "rediscovered" and put into practice by
more and more "healers" the world over. It goes by
many names and is practiced in a variety of ways. This is a
broad and interesting field of study and we only touch the very
edges of it in the information we put before you this month. We
hope you will find on these pages numerous avenues to explore on
your own. We feel this is a field of knowledge that is
important to us all and worthy of our time and attention.

On
the future Schools of Healing
There
has to be a growing synthesis of the techniques of such schools, which
embody:

- Magnetic
healing
- The
best of the allopathic and homeopathic techniques, with which we must
not dispense
- Surgical
healing in its modern forms
- Electro-therapeutics
- Water-therapy
- Healing
by colour, sound and radiation
- Preventive
medicine
- The
essential practices of osteopathy and chiropractic
- Scientific
neurology and psychiatry
- The
cure of obsessions and mental diseases
- The
care of the eyes and ears
- Voice
culture
- Mental
and faith healing
- Soul
alignment and contact
- and
many other processes and procedures which belong to the healing art.
The
period is coming in which we will...garner the fruit of the ages; and then with the best that the past can
confer upon us, we will inaugurate those new enterprises which will speed
humanity upon its way.
Among
these new enterprises the healing art will be the foremost, because the
most necessary.
...There
will be eventually...hundreds and thousands of groups all over
the world who will express this new attitude to healing, who will be bound
together by their common knowledge and aims, but who will all express this
to the best of their ability in their own peculiar field, in their own
peculiar way and with their own peculiar terminology.
It
is the subjective life unity that is of interest...and the production of
a network of true healers all over the world.

What
is Disease?
I suggest the following:
1. All disease is disharmony
and lack of alignment and control.
a.
Disease is found in all the four kingdoms in nature.
b. Disease is purificatory in effect
c. Definite methods of healing are peculiar to humanity, and
mental in origin.
2. Disease is a fact in
nature.
a. Antagonism to disease
simply energizes it.
b. Disease is not the result of wrong human thought.
3. Disease is a process of
liberation and the enemy of that which is static.
4. The law of cause and
effect governs disease as it governs all else in manifestation.
"Disease, both physical and psychological, has its roots in the
good, the beautiful and the true. It is but a distorted refection of
divine possibilities. The thwarted soul, seeking full expression of
some divine characteristic or inner spiritual reality, produces
within the substance of its sheaths a point of friction. Upon this
point the eyes of the personality are focussed, and this leads to
disease.
The art of the healer is
concerned with the lifting of the downward focussed eyes unto the
soul, the Healer within the form. The spiritual or third eye then
directs the healing force, and all is well."

 HEALING
"We found also that
healing is brought about in three ways:
1. Through the
application of the methods of the many schools of medicine
and surgery, and allied groups.
2. Through the use
of psychology.
3. Through the
activity of the soul.
...These...three
ways have their place and value, dependent upon the point
in evolution of the subject being healed.
First,
there is the application of those palliatives and
ameliorating methods which gradually cure disease and
eliminate undesirable conditions; they build up the form
life and foster the vitality, so that disease can be
thrown off. Of these methods the allopathic and the
homeopathic schools and the various osteopathic and
chiropractic and other therapeutic schools are good
exponents. They have done much good and constructive work,
and the debt of humanity to the wisdom, skill and
unselfish attentions of the physicians is great. They are
dealing all the time with urgent conditions and dangerous
effects of causes which are not apparent on the surface...
Secondly,
there is the appearance of the work and methods of the
modern psychologist, who seeks to deal with subjective
conditions and to straighten out those wrong attitudes of
mind, those inhibitions, psychoses, and complexes which
bring about the outer states or disease... Under this
method, the patient...is trained to be positive and
active, and this is a great step in the right direction.
The tendency to combine psychology with the outer physical
treatment is sound and right.
Thirdly,
the highest and the newest method is that of calling into
positive activity a man's own soul. The true and the
future healing is brought about when the life of the soul
can flow without any impediment and hindrance throughout
every aspect of the form nature. It can then vitalize it
with its potency, and can also eliminate those congestions
and obstructions which are such a fruitful source of
disease.

The
Soul: True Healer of the Form
Esoteric Healing is really
self-healing - remembering that the true Self is not the
personality. The esoteric healer helps the patient, by application
of scientific techniques, to lift his or her eyes towards soul
consciousness. From there, the power of the person's Self can be
released according to its plan for that life. It is the soul alone
that can heal the form or physical (personality) body.
Sometimes it is the soul's wish to present problems for learning
purposes and it is not right to remove them until the lessons have
been learned. Esoteric healing can help a patient to understand
this and thus remove the negative aspects of suffering.
Esoteric healing regards all disease as purificatory, for it can
in itself raise the consciousness to incorporate a wider
perspective of life making it deeper and more vital.

Esoteric Healing in
Practice
Esoteric healers may work alone or
in groups, but even when alone they link subjectively to the group
of healers.
In a treatment, usually the patient sits, comfortable and relaxed.
Using his higher consciousness, the healer attunes to the Source of
Healing Power and forms a link between the Source, his soul and that
of the patient. After the attunement, the healer senses energy
imbalances reflected within the etheric energy fields of the
patient. Then, according to the will and plan of the patient's soul,
these may be released and the energy centres balanced using the law
that energy follows thought. The specific lines of energy connection
and the unique requirements of the individual patient are learnt
scientifically by the esoteric healer and related to the chakras in
the etheric body of the patient.
No physical contact is required, but sometimes the patient is aware
of some corresponding changes in the physical, emotional or mental
body as the substanding energy field is altered. It can, however,
take up to a few days or more, for the transition to take place.
Nearly always there is an awareness of higher energies being
present, manifesting as light or peace, and there may be a feeling
of release of tensions.
Clearing and balancing may involve many
treatments or can take just one.
