International Institute for Sustainable Development

IISD's mission is to promote sustainable development in decision making internationally and within Canada. Program areas include: Business Strategies; Trade and Sustainable Development; Community Adaptation and Sustainable Livelihoods; The Great Plains; Measurements and Indicators; and Knowledge Communication.


Rocky Mountain Institute

Rocky Mountain Institute is a nonprofit research and educational foundation. The Institute creates, and helps individuals and the private sector to practice, new solutions to old problems, mainly by harnessing the problem-solving power of market economics and of advanced techniques for resource efficiency.


Millennium Institute

The Millennium Institute helps people of the world to achieve a sustainable future for the Earth and uses the energy of the year 2000 to build a diverse alliance committed to this task. Resources include: Threshold 21 National Sustainable Development Model, a multisector, integrated assessment tool; and Global 2000 Revisited: What Shall We Do?, a report on the critical issues of the twenty-first century.


People-Centered Development Forum

PCD Forum is an international alliance of individuals and organizations dedicated to the creation of just, inclusive, and sustainable human societies through voluntary citizen action. Its International Secretariat is David C. Korten, author of "When Corporations Rule The World."


Global EcoVillage Network

The Global Ecovillage Network (GEN) is a grassroots non-profit organization that links together ecovillages and related projects around the world. GEN promotes and supports models of sustainable living globally, in order to inspire and encourage the creation of more viable lifestyles on this Earth.


World Watch Institute

The Worldwatch Institute is dedicated to fostering the evolution of an environmentally sustainable society by conducting inter-disciplinary non-partisan research on emerging global environmental issues, the results of which are widely disseminated throughout the world.


Union of Concerned Scientists

UCS is an independent nonprofit alliance of 50,000 concerned citizens and scientists across the country. It augments rigorous scientific analysis with innovative thinking and committed citizen advocacy to build a cleaner, healthier environment and a safer world.


The Simple Living Network

Tools for those who are serious about learning to live a more conscious, simple, healthy and earth-friendly lifestyle. SLN is the distributor of some publications from this site.

Published by the Positive Futures Network, an independent, nonprofit corporation, this is an excellent resource for positive options in community, healing, economics, technology, and sustainability.

The Pierce Simplicity Study

Seeds of Simplicity

Seeds of Simplicity is a national, nonprofit membership organization working to help mainstream and symbolize voluntary simplicity as an authentic social and environmental issue.


The New Roadmap Foundation

The New Road Map Foundation (NRM) provides people with practical tools and innovative approaches for managing and mastering basic life challenges. An all-volunteer organization, it promotes service as a route to personal health and social revitalization.


Cecile Andrews & Simplicity Circles Project

Cecile is the author of The Circle of Simplicity: Return to the Good Life and writes a column on Voluntary Simplicity for the Seattle Times. A Simplicity Circle is a participatory, small group form of personal and social transformation that helps people lead lives of high satisfaction and low environmental impact.
