Institute of Noetic Sciences
|
A nonprofit membership
organization that both conducts and sponsors research
into the workings and powers of the mind, including perceptions, beliefs,
attention, intention, and intuition. We are bold enough to inquire about
phenomena that don't fit into the conventional scientific model. We educate
the public about the latest findings through our publications, conferences and
website; and we support community building by providing ways for members and
colleagues to share their experiences and ideas with one another through community
groups, online discussion
groups, our Pathfinding
project, and other networking opportunities.

| The Arts and Healing Network applauds Betsy Damon for
her vision, courage, and perseverance in creating environmental
artworks that address issues of water conservation. Her most recent work
includes the creation of the Living Waters Park in Chengdu, China. The
purpose of this park is two-fold: to help purify the local water supply,
which had grown dangerously polluted, and to provide pleasant
surroundings for people to wander, converse, and observe nature in
action. The design includes a series of ponds that contribute to
cleaning the water, a pump house designed to look like old Sichuan tea
houses, an amphitheater that seats 400, and the removal of retaining
walls. The result is a large-scale park that is not only lovely, but
educational and purifying. |

The term "Artist" is used broadly - paraphrasing the New American
Dictionary definition:
"A person who performs their work as though it were an
Art."
We think this definition has the breadth to include the carpenter as well as the
visual or performing artist - springing from our belief that art is defined more
by an attitude than a specific course of action.

CANHELP was founded by scientists, researchers and thinkers who believe that
the world can become a better place to live in if - with science as a basis we
generate a world view that values life more than matter. In September 1998,
CANHELP inaugurated its Global University for Well-Being.
CANHELP's Alpha-Omega model
Established science is based on a world view that is and has
been predominant in Western culture for the last few hundred years.
Despite the fact that this science has brought us much that is of value, the
research performed at universities and elsewhere, and the knowledge we gain in
this way, can be considered fully valid only on condition that the present world
view is valid.
The following assumptions are fundamental to the prevailing world view
and have been regarded as givens without necessity of proof:
- Matter is the most fundamental phenomenon in creation.
- The phenomena of life, consciousness and intelligence have arisen from
matter - by chance.
Today's science is thus conditioned, dependent on the truth of these
assumptions. There are many indications today that the phenomena of
consciousness and intelligence are more basic than these premises.
- CANHELP's
Alpha
Omega model provides the framework for establishing a new basis
- for science. The model provides a summary of feasible sequences for the
appearance of
- consciousness, matter and intelligence during the process of creation.
