Economics for a Green World

July 3-22, 2005

What sort of economy would we have if the needs of people and of the environment were given priority - if we reject unregulated global trade and Western consumerism? Two economists and a historian will reflect on how the global economy has developed, its impacts on countries and cultures in the South, and how international institutions have promoted these changes. What does world history teach us about globalization and the spread of consumer culture? Practical, humane alternatives to the current economic system will be addressed. Presented by Schumacher College in the UK.

International Sustainability Conference

Oct. 13-14, 2005

Little less than 20 years after the publishing of `Our Common Future` by the Brundtland Commission we must conclude, that despite various promising initiatives, we have achieved little and only sporadically with our strategies for fighting the excrescences of the systematic abuse of the earth. Nevertheless, major and minor achievements such as the political Agenda 21 or private initiatives, raise hope that there is a growing common sense in our society, indeed.

INTRODUCTION TO CREATIVE MEDITATION
with Corinne McLaughlin

July 30, 2005

Deepen your connection with Spirit and with your inner essence in this sacred space of peace and beauty. Recent studies have shown meditation to be very effective in stress reduction, healing and intuitive decision- making. Whether you are new to the practice of meditation, or would like to learn new techniques to deepen your practice, this retreat will be most helpful. This approach is non-denominational, and is based on the Ageless Wisdom -- the "golden thread" connecting the hidden teachings at the heart of all spiritual paths, East and West. The retreat will include instruction in creative visualization techniques as well as guided meditations and silent retreat time. You’ll learn effective meditative techniques for:

Ø Developing relaxation and inner peace

Ø Transmuting negative energy into positive, creative energy

Ø Aligning your personality with your highest self or soul

Ø Contacting an inner source of wisdom and guidance

Ø Being more fully present in each moment

This retreat is offered by voluntary donation.
